Industrial Metal Coatings Laboratory
GE Aviation requested PEDCO to provide engineering services for a new research/production laboratory at their aircraft engine facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. The scope of work included the total remodel of an existing factory space into a state-of-the-art metals coating facility for both research and production. The coatings of multiple aviation parts are included in this lab.
Work included metal treating furnace rooms, vapor phase coatings, complete chemical treatment room, hazardous materials storage, plasma spray booths, controlled temperature and humidity spaces, specialized welding chambers and a renovated two-story office area.
Equipment included all new HVAC to serve the various spaces, dust collection, central vacuum systems, chemical hoods and scrubber, process cooling water system, chillers, boilers, pumps and distribution, a complete process cooling water system. Exhaust air utilizes heat recovery to conserve energy. Process gases were also provided including oxygen, hydrogen, argon and nitrogen.
This project has helped our client reach many goals in research and development for the next generation of aviation innovations.
