PEDCO Receives Outstanding Achievement Award from ACEC
PEDCO E & A Services, Inc. in Sharonville was presented with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Outstanding Achievement Award for the newly constructed Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati.
This four-story 225,000 SF facility is functionally and visually critical to the continued success of both UC’s Main Street and Campus Green master planning implemented over the past three decades. It serves to connect both recreational and academic open spaces and structures that are carefully woven into the heart of the West Campus. This facility has more than 160 faculty office spaces, a two-story auditorium, lecture hall, research labs, student organization meeting spaces, and huddle and breakout rooms for plenty of workspaces.
As with any large project such as this one, multiple players played a key role in this ultimate success of the building. PEDCO provided MEP engineering design services and was involved in much of the crucial design decision making throughout the entire process. PEDCO contributed with numerous recommendations and brainstorming a variety of conceptions and options for the MEP systems. The facility uses primary/secondary pumping and is tied into the campus utilities distributed underground from the central utility plant. This project received LEED Gold Certification.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Ohio Engineering Excellence Awards recognized engineering projects which exhibited original or innovative application of new or existing techniques, perception by the public, social, economic, and sustainable design considerations, complexity, and successful fulfillment of client/owner needs. The award was formally presented at the Regional Luncheon meeting on March 12th in Columbus Ohio. As an Outstanding Achievement award winner, PEDCO is now qualified to compete nationally on April 28th, in Washington D.C.
